Infractions and Fines Policy

This policy defines the categories of infractions for each of the regulations and policies adopted by the port administration. Any infraction to the regulations, policies or directives adopted by the port administration will be handled according to the provisions of this policy.

Parking prohibited in front of a landing dock

Applicable measures: verbal warning, written warning. In case of recurrence, a fine of $500 will be imposed. Legal proceedings may be initiated if necessary.

Refusal to sort waste materials

Applicable measures: verbal warning, written warning. In case of recurrence, a fine of $500 will be imposed for the first infraction and $1,000 for subsequent infractions. Legal proceedings may be initiated if necessary.

Non-accidental discharge of oil or other contaminant into the port

Applicable measures: verbal warning, issuance of a violation notice. A fine equivalent to the costs incurred for decontamination will be charged. Legal proceedings may be initiated if necessary.

Non-compliance with mooring rules and port regulations

Applicable measures: verbal warning, written warning. In case of recurrence, a fine of $1,000 per day will be imposed. Legal proceedings may be initiated if necessary.

Non-payment of fees (services)

Applicable measures: written warning. If no payment is received within 10 days following the notice, the accounts receivable collection policy will be applied. Legal proceedings may be initiated if necessary.

Navigation speed at the entrance and in the port

Applicable measures: verbal warning, written warning. In case of recurrence, a fine of $500 will be imposed, where applicable. Legal proceedings may be initiated if necessary.

Non-compliance of electrical connection that may cause fire

Applicable measures: immediate disconnection. In case of recurrence, a fine of $1,000 will be imposed. Legal proceedings may be initiated if necessary.

Nuisance to port operations (parking, equipment left behind, etc.)

Applicable measures: verbal warning, written warning. In case of recurrence, a fine will be imposed. Legal proceedings may be initiated if necessary.

Refusal to sign the mooring agreement and provide proof of insurance

Applicable measures: refusal of mooring. Legal proceedings may be initiated if necessary.
